Melissa Starman

Former FBI Analyst | 24 Years | Miami Division

Melissa Starman is a 24-year veteran of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, having served her entire career in the Miami Division. She brings decades of experience in high-stakes investigations, analytical intelligence, and complex case development.

From 2009 to 2026, Ms. Starman specialized in violent crimes against children, where her analytical expertise played a critical role in dismantling sophisticated criminal networks and supporting the successful prosecution of violent offenders. Her work contributed to the disruption of international child exploitation operations, the identification and apprehension of serial offenders, and the rescue of numerous victims.

Ms. Starman was awarded the United States Attorney General’s Distinguished Service Award as the sole analytical member of a team investigating a subject involved in cyber-espionage, theft of classified materials, sex trafficking, and crimes against minors. She was also recognized on five separate occasions as Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida.

Her work has supported the dismantling of complex child exploitation and sextortion networks operating both domestically and internationally, involving coordinated criminal enterprises, online identities, and targeted victimization schemes.

Most recently, Ms. Starman was selected to support a specialized investigative team examining the assassination of the Haitian President, with proceedings scheduled for trial in 2026.

Earlier in her career, she served in a leadership role within the FBI Miami Division, overseeing multiple operational and support units including the Joint Operations Center, Electronic Surveillance Unit, Evidence Unit, and Telecommunications. She also played a key role in coordinating federal intelligence support for Super Bowl XLI security operations.

Prior to her federal service, Ms. Starman demonstrated exceptional leadership in collegiate athletics, coaching at both the University of Miami and the University of Oklahoma. A former four-year starter at Duke University, she helped lead the development of inaugural programs and guided the University of Miami to its first NCAA Tournament appearance.
